Centre for Possible Studies / Serpentine Gallery

These pictures were taken on my mobile phone this morning as i shipped this project out the door...
a rather crazy week, starting with this project for the Centre for Possible Studies / Serpentine Gallery. we never really got to a point where a brief was written but after a meeting i was asked to visit Edgware Road and make a project 'trolley' for the centre. where to start? some of my research material can be seen here (Trolleys of the Edgware Road).
...so here it is! (with go-fast stripes?)
The trolley had to be a mobile, multi-purpose Centre for Possible Studies. Containing: folding table, two stools, storage boxes, archive hanging file type cabinet, umbrella, poster holder, poster display method, space to hold placards, fit through a standard UK door, multi-position display set up, robust, movable by one person ...the list goes on.
custom built steel frame with holders or sections for everything needed
stackable plywood boxes with painted 'local' graphics to exteriors
large solid wheels to avoid punctures, poster display rail stored in back, hidden folding table stored in back, umbrella back left
Market Stall Trader ?
Newspaper Seller ?
the storage boxes double up as stools
the painted graphics were inspired by the local area and the activities the trolley will be used for
no graphics on the table - this space is for the user to add to...
...so much problem solving in the welded steel frame, it needed to work set upright or down flat (below) ...missing from the photos, i also made a large galvanised steel weather cover that clips onto the front...
Red stripes - Market traders stalls
Red index card label holder - Archive filing box
Backgammon triangles - Games box / locally played games
...the collection
